SQL Server Developer (3 mos temp to perm)

Modis is one of the worlds largest and most respected providers of Information Technology Resource Management (ITRM) services and solutions.  Today, Modis delivers world-class ITRM solutions to over 2,000 clients in the United States, Canada, and Europe.  Currently we are looking for a SQL Server Developer for one of our clients in Baltimore, MD.  This is a 3 month temp to permanent position with our client.

 

General Summary
Assumes role as SQL expert for the client?s Software Development team, partnering with web developers and DBA to create simple to complex database objects as well as being an expert for maintaining/creating SQL Server Reports. Develops data specifications and models. Assists others in the development of detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Assists developers in the design, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and maintaining of programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assumes data-related technical role on operational technology development projects including analysis, modifications and enhancements.
2. Analyzes current and existing systems for potential product data integration scenarios.
3. Codes, tests and debugs average to complex data manipulation mechanisms (queries, stored procedures, triggers, etc.)
4. Troubleshoots specific database problems of an average to complex nature.
5. Prepares detailed data design specifications and models to support other team members.
6. Provides expertise in optimizing developers? code to allow for enhanced SQL performance and maintenance.
7. Creates and maintains SQL Server Reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
The incumbent must have the following:
? Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language), having experience with complex Microsoft SQL Server features. (2 to 4 years)
? Have a solid knowledge of data architecture and relationships, being able to create/modify data specifications and models. (2 to 4 years)
? Show proficiency with report development tools. (2+ years)
? Have a full understanding of software development and the full software life cycle
? Have strong communication and documentation skills This includes knowledge of sophisticated computer hardware, systems software, extensive application software, and debugging techniques needed to develop and maintain the client?s associated programs.

Experience in developing and maintaining database applications and/or web programming experience is desirable, especially in a .Net environment. Experience with implementing Sharepoint with SQL Server Reporting Services is also desirable.
