SYSTEMS/APPLICATION ENGINEER ? INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

Direct Report to: Infrastructure Manager

Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance and architecture of the computer systems infrastructure at Metrocast Cablevision.
? Day to day operation of Sun Solaris servers including V880, V440, V240, X4100.
? Day to day operation of OpenLDAP Directory Server.
? Day to day operation of Apache Web server.
? Day to day operation of Courier IMAP & POP server.
? Day to day operation of Postfix Mail server.
? Day to day operation of a continuously operated enterprise class datacenter.
? Day to day operation of Proofpoint SPAM server.
? Writing small programs and routines to assist with automation tasks.
? Participation in a 24x7 oncall rotation.
? Participation in a structured change management process.
? Occasional night and weekend shifts are required in order to implement changes during designated downtime windows.
? Documentation of systems and application design and configuration.
? Providing professional support to customers, both internal and external.
Job Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree in Information Technology area or equivalent experience.
? Minimum 2 years experience required as a Unix Systems Administrator or Programmer.
? Knowledge of a programming language required. PERL or C preferred.
? General knowledge of networking protocols required.
? Experience with LDAP preferred.
? Database experience (MySQL/Postgres) preferred.
? Knowledge of Sun Solaris or RedHat Linux required.
? Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
? Ability to work under pressure with a diverse team.
? Ability to work under moderate supervision.
