Sales Engineer

 

Position Overview
The ESE position is the focal point of technical responsibility within the Sales organization for all pre-sales customer engagements. ESEs are expected to have complete product knowledge and ability, technical sales ability, and expert level (in-depth) networking engineering knowledge (including design and troubleshooting). ESEs are the technical interface between the Sales organization and all other company departments.

 

Paired with a regional sales representative, the Systems Engineer is responsible for opportunity qualification, product demonstrations, technical presentations, on-site product installation, training, and support, and coordination with post-sales services. Heavy regional travel is required - up to 70% on-site work with customers and partners.

Essential Skills and Functions
? Assist sales representatives in qualifying sales opportunities
? Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely or at customer locations/Citrix Netscaler facilities on Citrix Netscaler value proposition
? Travel to customer sites to implement our products into their systems architecture including installation and customization or upgrades of both hardware and software.
? Provide on-site training to customers and partners about use and administration of Citrix Netscaler products.
? In some regions, SEs additionally provide post-sales support and coordinate support with the Customer Support organization.
? Short term : Travel to customer site to implement Citrix Netscaler solutions ; Long term : To standardize Citrix Netscaler Technology across the IT infrastructure of the customer
? Work with channel partners to successfully meet Regional targets
? Work with professional services to ensure timely resolution and closure to customer escalations
? Review, testing and creation of content for CITRIX NETSCALER?s technical knowledgebase
? Creation of customer deployment reference documents
? Mentoring of other CITRIX NETSCALER technical groups
? Direct interaction with Product Development group on behalf of all external organizations and customers.

Qualifications and Requirements

? The ESE should be capable of handling technical issues of any degree of complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance.
? Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and UNIX (particularly BSD variants).
? Expert knowledge of HTTP.
? Proficient with packet capture and analysis tools
? Familiarity with user authentication technologies and software such as RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS, Active Directory)
? Familiarity with Enterprise Application Software such as Apache, IIS, WebSphere, Oracle, Siebel, SAP, etc.
? Technical sales experience, particularly RFP/RFI and presentation experience.
? Intermediate level knowledge of SSL (particularly server-based) and DNS Admin required.
? Experience with Windows Networking.
? Demonstrated experience with network devices (routers, switches, etc.).
? Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required ? both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate customers about complex technology simply.
? Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with enterprise customers.
? Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience required.
? Undergraduate Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience recommended.
? Able to lift 50lbs.
