Security Engineer

Successful candidate will posses advanced Network and Systems Security and Engineering principles, theories, and concepts, have full understanding of Internet security issues, full knowledge of IP security exploits and how to address them; be able to design and implement proactive protection measures, and develop attack recovery practices. Knowledge of CISCO switches (6500series), TCP/IP, SSH, RIP, OSPF, BGP and other routing protocols. Knowledge of telephony protocols such as SS7, PRI and VoIP protocols MGCP, SIP. Knowledge of Firewall technologies such as CISCO PIX, iptables and ipfw with demonstrated experience in firewall fundamentals through application. Individual must possess the ability to produce high-quality documentation for Security tools, systems, processes, and solutions. Individual must be a self-motivated problem solver who is able to work with minimal supervision; be a team player; be able to manage heavy workloads and high levels of activity and stress and be flexible in handling changes in direction and process.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



Works with representatives from all departments to collaborate on the requirements, specifications, and design of new Security products/services used to secure TWC VoIP and HSD infrastructure.



Designs, documents and articulates Security solution architectures. Evaluates new technologies and researches new products.



Provides direct technical/engineering support for TWC VoIP infrastructure, products & services.



Develops and directs system testing procedures, programming, and documentation as they relate to Security products/services.



Provides advanced level (Tier III/Tier IV) operational support for security related issues.



Provides technical support for interaction with Law Enforcement, external Legal, and Security Organizations.



Provides technical supports for technical compliance of infrastructure



May represent company on selected Industry Boards, Councils & Working Groups



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Position has no direct supervision responsibilities but must be able to provide technical mentoring & guidance Security team members, as well as members of other Operations teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and three to five years? related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.



REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract
and concrete variables.
