Security System Engineer

Description:
Security Intitiatives - Investigation, Design and Implementation.
- Systematically identify and remediate the security vulnerabilities on our CDS IP-based platforms.
- Act as the Lead Single Point of Contact and represent Commercail Data Systems at the Network Security Working Group.
- Develop a risk model by which we can: (a) rate the criticality of each asset, (b) perform ongoing vulnerability tests on assets to identify vulnerabilities, and (c) map the latest threat information to those vulnerabilities.
- Knowing the most critical assets, most critical vulnerabilities, and most critical threats will enables you to identify the highest priority items to fix.
- Design implementable solutions to address all Network Security policies and known vulnerabilities.
- Use the developed solutions to test your assets and manage your vulnerabilities.
- Establish the testing profiles and interpret results.
- Lead and work closely with all CDS Operations and Engineering personel to implement all security initiatives.
- This position requires occasional out of hours work.
- This position will also require general system and capacity engineering work including: installation and configuration of multiple server complexes, perfoming hands-on system engineering and adminisrtation.
- Capacity engineering, capacity and demand Charts and system monitoring will be required.
- support of 7x24 production systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
5 - 10 years of Computer/Information System experience.
Minimum 5 - 10 years experience supporting production, 24x7, Unix/Solaris systems .
3-5 years experience working on security initiatives and remediating security vulnerabilities
Experience with systems engineering and design including clustering, server farms and networks.
Experience developing support tools on Solaris using UNIX shell scripts and utilities (Perl a plus) - Experience with vendor management
Experience with being part of virtual teams consisting of members from different departments.
Understanding of relational database technologies and SQL (preferably Oracle) - In-depth understanding of IP network services and protocols - Demonstrated technical and analytical skills - Good interpersonal and communications skills.
Experience with performance measurement and capacity planning
