Senior Architect Information Systems

Job Description: Proactively and independently identifies, develops and implements analytical, reporting and information platforms, systems and tools to meet current and future business unit needs.


Meets with Senior Management and Business Unit Managers to determine Group’s strategic objectives and translates these into clear and implementable game plan for staff.


Determines and makes the necessary recommendations and/or decisions on the proper architecture, data structure, platform, programming tools, and hardware necessary to ensure project’s effective implementation.


Responsible for managing the ongoing development and implementation of all information systems and tools necessary to support the business process. Work across business and technical units to identify and evaluate new tools that meet corporate and business unit needs and objectives.


Develop and implement new tools, platforms, and information systems that support easier and wider access to strategic information - both detailed and summary level. Constantly evaluate and develop the appropriate business case for new tools and platforms relative to existing capabilities to continually improve usability, reporting and analytical capabilities for end-users.


Network and collaborate with peers within company to ensure similarities and consistency exist in terms of data structures, end-users tools, platforms, and processes. Understand where efforts of other business units can be leveraged or efforts of own group can be shared to benefit others. Actively maintains knowledge of industry and technological trends and changes in the organization that may impact the strategic direction of the department.


Performs high-level review of finished projects or work-in-progress to ensure correctness, accuracy, and conformance to the end-user requirements and corporate objectives


Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Experience:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science, Computer Science or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated ability in managing complex application programming and/or database development work which is generally achieved with five (5) to seven (7) years computer programming and project management experience.

Knowledge in a variety of computer platforms and languages, software applications and data base technologies including, but not limited to: COBOL, SQL, Websphere, JAVA, and/or Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), Actuate, Cognos, Unix, DB2, Oracle, etc.

Demonstrated experience of working across standard processes and experience with four tier architecture

Background in forms & imaging strongly desired; should have the ability to speak with the imaging team

Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and develop tactics to execute strategies.

Ability to actively listen, interview end-users, and apply information from meetings to complete tasks.

Strong analytical, facilitation, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
