Senior Data Base Administrator (132806-514)

OVERVIEW:
Maintain an efficient and secure database while constantly improving the design and efficiency

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
? Designs, installs, maintains and enhances both physical and logical databases for specific applications.
? Provide day-to-day support for users and application databases.
? Trouble shoots performance issues and problems on databases.
? Assures compatibility and efficiency of database applications through ongoing system monitoring and evaluation.
? Provide security model and security monitoring for respective business databases.
? Analyze and resolve data issues that cause problems on production databases.
? Proactively monitor and manage database storage requirements.
? Allocate system storage and determine future storage requirements for the databases.
? Proactively check and fix performance bottlenecks.
? Monitor alert logs to check for potential database issues.
? Establish performance parameters and diagnostic methods to obtain RDBMS performance data on a recurring basis. Revise performance standards on a quarterly basis.
? Develop a viable and effective backup strategy for the databases for which they are responsible.
? Install and upgrade the RDBMS server and application tools. Establish a standard for all installs and upgrades.
? Provide documentation on standardized install procedures for all RDBMS components
? Validate backups and restores.
? Develop and maintain documentation relating to the management of the appropriate database.
? Created and maintain new databases as required.
? Maintain and assist in the creation of a corporate Data Dictionary
? Develop database objects as required to implement data projects and size storage structures appropriately
? Maintain up to date data models of your databases
? Implement database changes in production (per IPDs).
? Create a database design document for new development projects using the template in VSS.
? Develop and maintain a viable archive strategy for the business units.

COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
? Must possess proven 3 years of 10G RAC on VERITAS or ASM running Solaris
? Must possess 5 years of proven SQL tuning and Oracle performance/tuning experience
? 6 years experience with Oracle/Solaris system tuning
? 5 years experience with Solaris operating system
? 5 years of proven SAN technology and RAID architecture (Hitachi/EMC/NetApps)
? 5 years proven experience with RMAN
? 5 years of Oracle dba production support
? Must possess 5 years of proven UNIX shell scripting

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
BS or Equivalent Work Experience

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 to 7 years production and/or development DBA experience.

This role will work closely with key departmental and project stakeholders across the organization. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization is a key priority in this role.

? Minimal travel to collections or customer service facilities may be required; if necessary, expected to be less than 5%
