Senior Drafter

Due to current needs at the lab, we are seeking qualified applicants for the following career opportunity - Senior Drafter.
Under the close direction of a designer or engineer, prepares detail and assembly drawings to satisfy design requirements of accelerator utility support systems, and components ranging from ultra-high vacuum systems, structural support weldments, and piping, to electric motor driven devices. All work to be performed using UGS Ideas CAD software, and business-related software such as word processing, spreadsheets, etc. Maintain and update related files, databases, and archives of generated drawings.
Responsibilities
Ability to work independently or together with other members of the CAD group. Generate accurate drawings and documentation in accordance with standard manufacturing practices, utilizing various industry standards and laboratory practices. Capability to perform calculations when required to support design decisions. Good communication skills needed to interface with individuals involved with assigned projects. Ability to maintain required schedules independently, in an environment that allows a high degree of flexibility, and demands that projects often proceed with multiple tasks in parallel. Able to become ODH and Radiation Worker qualified in order to enter beam-line enclosures to document installations, and is available for occasional overtime.
Requirements
Demonstrated proficiency with a 2D CAD system is essential (SDRC Ideas software preferred). Minimum of two years mechanical drafting experience in a production 2D CAD environment preferred. Math background at least through trigonometry and ability to perform standard calculations found in design reference handbooks. Proficiency with a computer operating system to a level that allows for efficient handling of electronic documents, and the capability to use personal computers for word processing, basic engineering calculations and data presentations.
Desirable:
2-yr Associates degree or equivalent. Proficiency with a 3D solid modeling program., Experience with other UGS products, NX (Unigraphics), Solid Edge, Teamcenter Engineering. Background or training utilizing Team-oriented concepts. Demonstrated ability with a CAD programming language, any training with a compiled higher level language.
