Senior IS Analyst
Analyze, plan, design, develop, implement and document Complex information technology projects which are aligned with company and IS goals. The incumbent will be assigned to various project teams. He/She will assist in the implementation of information technology to sustain or enhance the company competitive position. Major Tasks of Position 1.Analyze, plan, design, develop, implement and document Complex information technology projects which are aligned with company and IS goals. This would include providing input into cost/benefit analysis. 2.Contribute ideas and suggestions as a senior member of the project team. This may include on the job training of Assistant Analysts, Associate Analysts and Analysts. 3.Assist in the development of the project plan and scheduling of project activities. 4.Work directly with the client to solve complex information technology problems and provide effective solutions. 5.Maintain a current awareness of information technology. 6.Recommend changes and new technologies for existing systems and services to improve overall effectiveness of the project. 7.Provide status updates regarding project activities as required by the Project Leader or IS management. 8.Support and assist junior members of the project team. 9.Participate actively in the Quality Improvement Process. Work Interactions and Major Opportunities. The incumbent solves information technology problems of a complex nature using creative thinking. He/She must demonstrate the ability to review and research documentation and manuals and reply an prior experience to find effective solutions to complex information technology problems. He/She recommends alternative information technology solutions to IS management. The incumbent must be able to perform these activities with some supervision. Major Decisions. Key Figures. The incumbent's degree of freedom to act varies from project to project and is limited by budgetary constraints, availability of resources and the authority empowered by the assigned IS manager. While having the freedom to act, the incumbent does have shared responsibility for a project's successful and timely completion. This may include input to the projects' budgets, needed resources, as well as the development of the project scope and timetable.
Capabilities to be considered for this position, the incumbent must possess: Ph.D. with minimal experience in the information technology profession. M.S. /MBA with 3 - 6 years of proven experience and accomplishment
B.A./B.S. with 4 - 6 years of proven experience and accomplishment
No Degree with 7 - 10 years of proven experience and accomplishment in the
information technology profession The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of information technology techniques
and the project life cycle, including
adherence to the IS development standards. The incumbent must be able to
provide technical assistance as well as guidance to
other staff members on the .assigned projects. The incumbent must demonstrate
the ability to manage a small to medium scope
project or assist with the management of a medium to large scope project. Additionally, he/she must demonstrate the
communication skills, both written and verbal, required to articulate concepts
and ideas related to the assigned projects. The
incumbent must be diplomatic, persuasive and be able to establish rapport with
all members of the project team. The incumbent
must Show evidence of broadening his/her knowledge beyond his/her area of
assignment. The incumbent must be regarded as a
knowledgeable technical information source within the project team. He/She must
possess a high degree of skill for problem
identification and resolution. The incumbent must adapt readily to a client's
changing needs. The Senior Analyst reports to an IS manager. The incumbent will be
communicating with personnel across all levels of the
organization. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to manage a small to
medium scope project or assist with the
management of a medium to large scope project as required by IS Management. This person is expected to share his/her
acquired expertise within the IS organization.
