Senior IT Analyst - 3287

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under occasional supervision, performs duties relating to the installation of desktops/laptops/servers (including hardware/software) throughout the organization.  Assists others in development, testing and management of various desktop images. In addition, loads and configures software such as operating systems, office suites (MS Office) and various applications either purchased or developed internally.  Assists other IT technicians as required (including support of Help Desk as needed).  Performs server monitoring functions as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Installs and modifies desktop systems throughout the organization.  Installs and configures peripheral equipment such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives. Installs and repairs all system cables.  Configures and verifies system functioning.

 

2. Loads and configures software such as operating systems and environments, and word processing, database, spreadsheets and other application programs.

 

3. Serves as an escalation resource for the IT Support Center (Help Desk).  In this role, position receives calls from the Help Desk or may receive calls directly from all locations regarding system problems, collects appropriate information, assesses situation, and troubleshoots problems within scope of authority.  May also provide desk-side support and problem resolution.

 

4. Assists with the installation of technology initiatives (large deployments, upgrades, relocation efforts) on an as needed basis.

 

5.  Provides technical assistance and training to users. 

 

6.  Perform special projects as assigned.  These projects may be of varying lengths and complexity, and may occasionally relate to technical areas or bank operations that extend beyond this positions normal job functions.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Position requires technical training in personal computers equivalent to two years of college and a minimum of 3 years related work experience.  Familiarity with network configuration, hardware installation and Microsoft Office Applications required.  Good verbal communication skills are needed in providing information and assisting users.

 

2. Advanced problem solving skills are needed to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.

 

3. Work requires contact with diverse groups internally and externally in furnishing and obtaining information that requires some cooperation.  Requires tact and discretion to obtain cooperation and understanding.  Inter-personal skills are needed to maintain a positive rapport within the organization.

 

4. Work is under occasional supervision where independent judgment is sometimes needed in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures and the selection of alternate procedures and work routines.

 

5. Work requires a concentrated level of mental effort and visual attention.

 

6. Requires a high level of knowledge of and the ability to support various versions of the Windows operating system, Novell Directory Services and Microsoft Active Directory and IIS.  Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, various database management systems, imaging systems, and financial institution operations is also helpful.

 

7.   Knowledge of SQL server, SQL and/or strong experience as a Data Base Administrator is a definite plus.

 

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires the ability to travel to all bank locations with minimal notice.  Duties involve lifting and carrying computer equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and requires manual dexterity in configuring or repairing systems. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Conditions are primarily within normal office environment but vary with work assignments.  Work may require exposure to unpleasant conditions of heat, dust, or noise; and may require moderate lifting such as servers, desktops, printers, etc.

 

2. Work requires little exposure to hazardous working conditions such as robbery.

3.  May require travel to remote locations of Sandy Spring Bank and it?s subsidiaries.

4. Responsibilities include carrying a pager (cell phone) throughout the normal work day and after hours as required by production support, upgrades and installations.

5. On call support is required on a regular rotating schedule.
