Senior IT Project Consultant – Web and Application Architectures

Our client is a highly successful NASDAQ traded information technology company that is experiencing outstanding growth. On the forefront of maximizing and securing the Internet performance of massive global enterprises and government entities, our client is searching for a highly consultative senior level technical Project Leader, preferably with Big 4 experience with multiple enterprise customers. In addition to core PM skills, the candidate should thrive with and enjoy shepherding large scale projects from a pre-sales/proposal state, through delivery, testing and ultimate acceptance.

 

As an overarching requirement of any role inside our client?s company, a powerful understanding of how the Internet works and the technologies associated with improving the speed, accuracy and security of a customer?s Internet-use experience. The ideal candidate will have robust enterprise-scale application development experience (languages and methodologies typical to Unix and/or Windows environments) AND an exceptionally solid understanding of the leading networking and application infrastructure technologies typical to large scale deployments. If there is a background in streaming, that?s a great plus and should be called out in your cover note.

 

In addition to strong consultative and Project Management experience, candidates need to demonstrate excellent high-level customer interaction/relationship skills. A Big 4 consulting, or similar background, is ideal - where discussions of business objectives, money, risk/benefits, and technology are well understood and articulated with polish and precision.

 

** What the position is not: it is not a narrowly-focused, heads-down PM role where experience, however impressive, is limited to one long term project or limited to a single company with exposure to only one set of technologies and problems. This position will expose the candidate to many different clients, each with its own set of technologies/issues. Therefore, well rounded, consultative experience is very important.

 

Technically, the right candidate will have a solid understanding of application development methodologies and common web and n-tier application architectures. Examples include: DNS, HTTP etc, J2EE, .JSP, NET C#, ASP, Apache Tomcat, IIS, SunOne etc.

 

Other prototypical characteristics of a successful candidate include:

 

(a)  an education in Computer Science or a related field

(b) an absolute minimum of 4 years in complex IT solution delivery for a consulting firm/well regarded IT outsourcing company/systems integrator

(c)  a minimum of three years leading large (enterprise scale) J2EE or .NET projects for major Fortune 2000 companies

(d) Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills

(e)  A reasonable to excellent understanding of high bandwidth streaming, audio/video over the Net.

(c)  Warm and professional demeanor
