We are currently looking for a Senior Information Systems Director. Please read on for more details regarding this position.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

MI Architect:

The individual will be responsible for Commercial Systems MI Strategy application architecture: integration of design across all warehouse components, development of and adherence to development standards, reusability in concept and execution, establishment of best practices in application delivery. He/she will also be responsible for infrastructure architecture: capacity planning, tool selection and management, security architecture and integration among components, scalability management, and keeping current with industry best practice in infrastructure architecture. The individual will be responsible for Commercial Systems MI Strategy data architecture: logical and physical models, application database support in the development environment, data assessment, view development, metadata management.

~ Establishes and holds to an architectural foundation for the warehouse, its methodologies, and its products

~ Introduces change appropriately into the environment

~ Responsible for oversight of investment in technology and information

~ Stays abreast of industry advances in data warehousing, data mining and business intelligence applications

~ Ensure that standards and best practices are followed by all team members

~ Staff mentoring

 

Occasional travel may be required

 

Experience/Qualifications Required:

*Education - Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

*Expert in warehouse methodologies and technologies, including hardware and software tools, ETL design and development, metadata management, data presentation, capacity planning, security, and scalability. Will be responsible for logical and physical data model development and application database support. A minimum of 10-years of deep experience in information technology across several disciplines (application architecture and development, data architecture and design, database administration, EAI architecture) is required, with at least 5-years in data warehousing.

*Builds partnerships with technical resources within the organization, and with vendors

*Also able to build partnerships with leaders in the business community

*Superior communication skills are required. The individual will be expected to communicate effectively with individuals at the senior management level.

*Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industries would be a plus.

*Technology - Strong background in RDBMS technologies in the mainframe and client server platforms. Strong background in ETL tools and BI tools. Prior experience with one or more of the following would be a plus: Teradata, Ascential, Cognos Impromptu, Cognos ReportNet, Erwin, and AIX/UNIX.

*Supervision - Will be responsible for a direct staff of between 8 and 10 and matrixes a staff of 12 to 18.

*Span of control & influence - Matrix management and ability to influence and partner with Business partners as well as to work and partner with highly technical individuals. Ability to interact and influence at all levels in the organization. This is a technical leadership position. The individual will be expected to make decisions that guide the architectural direction of the CS MI warehouse and BI applications in a strategic direction that achieves the objectives of business leaders in the organization.
