Senior Internet Engineer

An Senior Internet Engineer works under minimal supervision to ensure the availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of websites, servers, services and development infrastructure related to internet and web based application platforms.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

? Integrally involved in the development and support of all Internet/Intranet/Extranet sites and supporting systems.

? Works closely with other IT groups and customers to define the system design and user interface based on customer needs and objectives.

? Participates in all phases of the development and implementation process, and may act as a project manager on special projects.

? Ensures the integration of the Web servers and all other supporting systems.

? Responsible for system tuning, optimization of information/data processing, maintenance and support of the production environment.

? Performs work that is complex and varied in nature.

? Defines and discerns key aspects of a problem and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant impact.

? Recognized expert internally and externally within a discipline(s) and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services.

? May lead projects and provide guidance/training to more junior staff.

? Requires mastery technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes.

? Provides high level written communications such as white papers, decision documents or research papers.

? May perform role of lead engineer and coordinate, consolidate and report input and estimates from other project team members.

? May participate in high profile production issues as part of an Emergency Response Team.

? Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education & Experience:

? Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent.

? Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

? Minimum five years experience as an Internet Engineer or Software Systems Engineer.

 

Knowledge, skill and abilities:Thorough understanding of electronic messaging architecture Strong Microsoft Exchange 2003 skills (including Clustering) Experience with RightFax, Legato/EMC EmailXtender & EmailXaminer, CipherTRust IronMail, & Blackberry Enterprise Server Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Back Office products. Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SSL, Web services, and information security. Computer literate with a proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Desktop Windows Operating Systems. Strong math skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills. Detail oriented. Exercises sound judgment. Ability to train, delegate, and review the work of lower level employees. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments for a work group. Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to customer information and employee records.
