Senior Linux Developer/Architect-- kernels, embedded linux development, open source

Industry leader has an immediate need for a Senior Linux Developer/Architect to provide key design, development, and architecture for its most popular product line. 

 

This person will assist in the design and implementation of the new version of the product. This person will focus on the operating system and services. The person must have extensive experience in Software Engineering and Linux systems programming. Strong verbal and written communication is required. Strong networking is required. This is a longer term contract position with a minimum of a 3 month contract with an option to hire permanently.

 

Required Skills/Experience:Design/Implementation:

o  2.4 Linux

o  Must have prior experience building a Linux operating using Open Source

o   Must have worked with setting up iptables, dhcpd, nfsd, system five run levels, sshd, key management, OS hardening, configuring kernels etc

o  Needs to have 5 years Linux experience

o  Proven experience working in embedded Linux Prior experience hardening Linux servers ideally for the financial markets

o  Extensive Programming experience using SHELL ScriptingStrong verbal and written communicationStrong Linux Networking knowledgeProcess (full life cycle development)

Desired Skills/Experience:Design/Implementation:Embedded development, particularly on PowerQuicc and ARM processorsknows how to write Board Verification tests ( Hardware validation suites)Sound knowledge Montavista embedded Linux Distro Mentored others on Linux Systems- and architecture-level design experienceSNMP configuration knowledgePerl Scripting is desirable2+ years software development experience using C or C++
