Job Description:
MarkMonitor is looking for a Senior Linux System Administrator to join its Infrastructure and IT Support Group. We are looking for someone with a few years of experience helping build and maintain production Unix and Linux systems. Experience in one or more scripting language (PHP, Perl, Python) are a must. Familiarity with Open-Source software is also required.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting Unix/Linux operating system and application software to support performance and availability
? Maintains backups for all critical components, both on-site and off-site storage. Help implement disaster recovery plans
? Deploys new releases, patches, and upgrades pertaining to the O/S and applications
? Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with server hardware and applications software. Making recommendations to enhance availability
? Monitors system stability and performance. Help develop tools to monitor and maintain systems to ensure 24x7 operations. Rapidly scale systems to meet demand
? Establishes and documents standards and procedures for management reviewTaking turns at being on-call 24x7 for system support
Technical Skills/Qualifications:5+ years of Linux system administration experience (Red Hat, Fedora, or Gentoo preferred) Demonstrated ability to produce scripts in Bash, Bourne, Perl, PHP, or Python to solve problems MySQL / PostgreSQL installation, configuration and troubleshooting. Apache installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. four or more years maintaining production systems in an enterprise environment Able to create and follow documented plans, procedures, and processes Experience with Java and Tomcat is a plus. Experience with Postfix is a plus Experience with the NAGIOS monitoring platform is a plus Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SNMP) Willingness to take turns at being on-call 24x7 for system support Excellent written and verbal communication skills
