Are you interested in working on a small team where you can make a big impact?  Are you interested in working with the latest innovative software technologies, while building a new business at Microsoft?  The Intellectual Property and Licensing group (IP&L) has recently formed the IP Ventures team to license and spin-out technologies.  The team will focus on identifying technologies across Microsoft?s business groups and Microsoft Research (MSR) that can be licensed to other companies.  Your primary responsibility will be working with researchers and developers to help evaluate, document, and package their technologies for outbound licensing.  You will also be responsible for leading and closing licensing transactions.  You will work closely with companies and entrepreneurs through technology evaluation, transaction negotiation and product development.  Successful candidates will have both technical and business skills and be able to work with software across a broad domain range. Successful candidates will also have strong customer focus and communication skills.  Projects areas include: Multimedia, Audio/Video Processing, Natural Language Processing, Speech Synthesis and Recognition, Information Retrieval and Data Mining, Media Computing, Visual Computing, User Interface, Wireless and Networking, and Internet Graphics.

 

Responsibilities:Work with researchers and developers to help evaluate, document, and package technologies for outbound licensing.Lead and close licensing transactions.

 

Skills and Qualifications:A minimum of 8 years work experience in the IT industry.A minimum of 2 years of experience in designing, leading and shipping products through the complete product cycle for at least one commercial product. A minimum of 2 years in a marketing, product management or strategy role at an IT company.Broad knowledge of software technologies required.A BS or MS in computer science or equivalent is preferred.Experience working with start-ups and entrepreneurs is preferred.
