Senior Manager, Information Technology

As a Senior Manager of U.S. IT you will use you demonstrated knowledge and experience in information system management to provide strong and consistent technical leadership to the U.S. IT team. Emphasis will also be placed on the development of short and long term project plans specifying goals, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.

You will be responsible for providing oversight to Cmed's clinical data management and eDC appliance, called "ThirdPhase." Particular responsibilities for supporting "ThirdPhase" include:

* Purchase, build, install, configure, QC, support, and monitor all
"ThirdPhase" stations.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting of ongoing trial
databases, liaising with Database Configuration and Software
Development personnel accordingly.
* Create and maintain backups and archives of clinical trial databases.
* Perform technical visits to sites which will run "ThirdPhase" stations.
* Purchase hardware suitable for the target country (and with
appropriate support levels).
* Maintain a stockpile of "ThirdPhase" hardware in order to service
clinical operations without undue delay i.e. laptops, servers, wireless (phone) cards, etc.
* Organize the shipping of stations (to and from clinical sites).
* Hardware tracking.
* Efficient and professional handling of support calls.

Additionally, you will also provide oversight and hands-on support to end-user needs and address concerns relating to computer business applications and general systems issues (Microsoft Office, E-mail, printing, etc.). Particular responsibilities for supporting desktop users include:

* Purchase, build, install, configure, QC, and support all
desktop/laptop PC machines.
* Organize for the repair of desktop/laptop PC equipment (when cost effective).
* Manage user accounts for email, intranet, etc.
* Telephones and mobile phones (including SIM cards).
* Help employees make the most of their PCs but explaining software features.
* Photocopiers.
* Fax machines.
* Printers.
* Software Licenses.
* Install and support broadband and VPNs for remote employees.
* Track all hardware and OS/software.
* Provide backups (and recovery) for employee data.
* Purchase miscellaneous technical hardware.
* Organize and maintain appropriate secure electronic storage.
* Efficient and professional handling of support requests from employees.

To be considered successful candidates will have a B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or the equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience. The candidate must have at least 5+ years of proven IT Dept. management experience with experience in computer/network security, operating systems such as UNIX/Linux and NT, and proficiency in PC applications.

Candidates must also have demonstrated the ability to lead, as well as, work well on a team and independently exercise initiative to accomplish assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision. Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of personnel in a professional and tactful manner.
