Senior .NET/C#/OO/RDBMS, socket, IP, TCP, UDP development-- WITH GIS EXPERIENCE

Market Leading Communications Product Development Company has an immediate opening in its R&D Department for a Senior Software Engineer.  CANDIDATES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH GIS & GIS TOOLS WILL BE CONSIDERED FIRST FOR THIS POSITION.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The incumbent will work act as a Senior Developer/tech lead, and will work closely other senior engineers and/or product managers in a collaborative development environment to build end to end windows applications.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Gather & view specific project requirements, conduct thorough analysis, and use project management skills to develop project from beginning through deployment.  Design and documentation of software in support of new product development.Development using Visual Basic 6, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, MapObjects, ArcObjects, SDE, ARCIMS, and a RDBMS like SQL Server and Oracle.Use ADO, OLEDB, and writing applications that interact with big mission critical databases.  Develop code that communicates with both serial and IP socket protocols.Use technologies as mentioned above to procure requirements, design, build and deploy scalable windows applications. Use of Object oriented development practices, COM, SOAP, Multi-Tier architecture etc.Write applications that involve GIS using Visual basic 6 and C#. Understanding of RDBMS and writing stored procedures etc in SQL Server and Oracle.Lead or possibly manage a small team. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or GIS or equivalent experience required.A minimum of 5 years experience in building complex, reliable mission critical systems and applications on a windows platform.3 or more years of experience functioning in a leadership or hands on management roll.Good process foundation, along with excellent teamwork, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills. The candidate should be able to take on responsibilities and work independently as well as be able to work as a team.Excellent communication skills required. The right candidate will work closely with a senior engineer and/or product manager, and other engineers in a collaborative development environment to build end to end windows applications.Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate the amount of time/work required to successfully complete specific assignments and deliver them on time.Solid experience with Visual Basic, C#, Sql Server.ArcObjects and Mapobjects is required.Good understanding of Web technologies like HTTP, SOAP, XML, and other GIS Software development tools is a plus.  This company develops communications products for the Public Safety Market (ie: Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems products, Radio Products, etc), so Public Safety and CAD software development experience is a big plus.
