Senior Network Administrator/Lead Technician

Vanguard Fire and Casualty, a Florida based Insurance Company, is in search of a Senior Network Administrator/Lead Technician to lead a small group (3) of Network and System Administrators. This position is responsible for overall systems stability, as well as providing internal consulting and leadership on highly technical issues and projects. This position requires excellent analytical skills to identify problems and proven abilities to resolve issues. The Sr. Network Administrator/Lead Technician must be able to work independently, make decisions quickly, and have the ability to be given a project and finish it on a timely basis with minimal direction.



 

Primary Expectations & Responsibilities:



Support CIO and Executive Management as requested, and contribute to specific projects, planning and implementation.



Provide supervision and technical guidance to 3 subordinate staff.



Responsible for research and development of assigned projects as it relates to changing technology.



Identify areas of opportunity for improvement and present options.



Complex problem resolution relating to connectivity and application inter-operability



Manage existing IT systems, operations, and network infrastructures in three Florida locations.



Maintain system security and enforce firewalls, antivirus programs, Windows updates/patches, data backup/recovery.



Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and documentation.



Possess a thorough understanding of telecommunications (phone systems & T1), Network WAN/LAN/VPN technologies and protocols.



Manage network integration, including but not limited to FTP sites, NAS, Web, etc.



Monitor daily administration and troubleshooting for computer equipment, servers, LAN/WAN, including all related routers, hubs, switches and peripherals.



Manage license renewals and major desktop software upgrades.



Contribute to IT policies, procedures, practices and documentation.





Specific Systems Supported:



Windows 2003 Active Directory: (including DNS, DCHP, Group Policy, Security Management).



File/Print services in a 3-site multi-domain environment, NAS and SAN



Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server



MS SQL Server



VMWare



Enterprise Network Security



Support 100 users in desktop computing needs



Office 2003 and Desktop Support



Treo and Goodlink support



Exchange 2003 (Clustered) Enterprise Email Server



VPN and Terminal Services



Computer Fax Server



Cisco VoIP



Cisco Routers and Switches



Cisco Pix Firewalls



Symantec Antivirus Enterprise,



Veritas Backup



Copiers, Printers, Scanners, Fax Machines

 







REQUIREMENTS:

 

Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or related disciplines. MCSE, Cisco and Citrix certifications preferred.


Minimum 8 years of professional work experience in systems management, networking and telecommunications.



In depth understanding of Networking, Security, Operating Systems, Storage Solutions and Web servers.



Minimum 3 years of Senior Administrative experience. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.



Knowledge of VB, VBScript, JavaScript, ASP, HTML, SQL, Perl.



Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.



This position requires occasional travel to satellite office in Sarasota and Tampa.



Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekend when upgrades or projects require.



Must have strong customer service and communication skills and work well with various constituencies.



Must be able to report to non-technical management and describe needs of site in simple terms.
