Senior Network Analyst

Markel Corporation, a national leader in the underwriting of specialty insurance products, is currently seeking Senior Network Analyst to work at our Glen Allen, Virginia location.

 

Reporting directly to the Director of Network and Telecom, the Senior Network Analyst will have day to day responsibility for the operation and control of Markel?s network. The Senior Network Analyst will also assist in the design, installation and implementation of the network.  In addition, the Senior Network Analyst will ensure that the network is in compliance with Security and Regulatory Guidelines. 

 

The Senior Network Analyst will partner will the Markel Business Units to ensure the networks are properly maintained to support their business needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

?  To provide technical support for routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices and associated network hardware, ensuring that strict network and systems technical performance specifications and customer expectations are met or exceeded. The job role also calls for the maintenance of overall network hardware and service levels by rigorous and effective testing and evaluation processes prior to rollout or deployment of new hardware into the Network.

?  Work with service providers to ensure SLA compliance and rapid resolution of all service disruptions.

?Work with IT technical teams to ensure seamless integration of new network components and systems.

?  Provide technical implementation and support functions including on-call services within Network Services group for Markel Enterprise LAN/WAN network-related matters.

?  Accountable for adhering to Change Control Management process for network related changes / incidents consistent with established processes and procedures to meet service expectations.

?  Accountable for problem determination, troubleshooting and resolution of network and IP related problems through use of network diagnostic tools such as Network analyzers and probes to "debug" the network.

?  Accountable for meeting project requirements within given timelines.

? Accountable for fully documenting all projects.

?  Participates in the improvement of support processes, subject matter expertise, and technical capabilities within the Network Services team.

?  Participate in the evaluation, implementation and support of complex network hardware topologies designed by Network Services staff as required, on a project-by-project basis.

Other Requirements:

 

?  Ability to work off-hour work schedules, and long hours including weekends if required.

?  Knowledge of project management a plus.

?  The candidate should have the ability to manage problem resolution under tense situations.

Education/Training

 

?  College degree in Information Technology, business, finance or related field required.

?  Proficient with the MS Office Professional Family Suite including; Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point.

?  5 years? experience in a technical role

?  Experience working in and leading project teams.
