Position Summary:

 

The position of Sr. IPv6 Network Engineer will provide primary and secondary functions in support of IntelliDyne. The primary function of the engineer is to support our Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) customer, located at the Skyline complex in Falls Church, Virginia, in the engineering of unclassified and classified IP based service provider networks, which carry voice, video, and data. This position requires a high level of familiarity and experience with IPv6, as that is the main focus of this job.  The secondary function of this engineer is to assist IntelliDyne with other business opportunities involving IPv6 and voice, video, and data networks. The engineer will report directly to the EVP.

Required Skills:

 

? Capable of effectively communicating both orally and in writing is a must

? Strong analytical and problem solving abilities

? Ability to work in collaborative, team environment on fast-past, dynamic projects

? Hands-on experience in configuring ATM switches and Routers and the protocols associated with ATM Switches and Routers (e.g. PNNI, BGP, IS-IS, EIRGP, MPLS; Cisco Routers and/or Juniper Routers) and Voice and Video softswitches (e.g. Cisco?s CallManager or Sphere?s CallManager.)

? Capable of conducting complex systems integrating testing and challenging engineering assessments.

? Capable of working independently is a must

? Understands and can follow the engineering process from defining requirements through deployment

? Capable of designing networks

? Knowledge of, and experience with IPv6 is mandatory

 

Supplemental Skills:

 

? Strong understanding of traffic generating tools such as IXIA, Smartbits, and BRIX

? Strong understanding of traffic sniffing tools such as EtherPeek and SnifferPro

? Good understanding of SNMP and the tools used to manage networks with this protocol

 

Responsibilities:

 

1. Supports the DISA customer in the evaluation, application, and engineering of IPv6 technologies for implementation in the operational networks.

2. The candidate is responsible for IPv4 to IPv6 transition assessments for implementation into unclassified and classified networks; performing systems integration testing. rapid prototyping and engineering support with IPv6 technologies for the dynamically evolving DISN.  Activities include:

­ Assisting with design approaches for implementing IPv6 into DISN

­ Planning for IPv6 assessments for insertion into DISN

­ Planning for the use of IPv6 in the DISN Core

­ Preparing of test Plans, test reports, and implementation guides

­ Setting up and configuring the test-beds

­ Performing assessments of IPv6 technologies for insertion into DISN

­ Providing an analysis and evaluation of assessment results

­ Preparing test reports documenting the results of the assessments

­ Developing transition strategies for implementing technologies into DISN

­ Developing functional, performance and interface specifications in support of the DISN to ensure interoperability and integration

 

Education & Qualification:

 Bachelors in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred, or 5-10 years equivalent work experienceCisco CCNP or Juniper JNCIP certified is a must, but ?CCIE Routing and Switching? is preferred.Strong familiarity and experience with IPv6 

 

Supervisory Responsibility, if any:

 

The candidate will not be responsible for supervising.
