Overview

BGI's Global Infrastructure Group is expanding, creating an opportunity for an experienced security engineer to join the team responsible for ensuring that the performance, availability and security of the IT infrastructure is maintained at the highest standard with maximum levels of productivity and efficiency. This will involve supporting the existing global infrastructure as well as assisting with future architectural design. The environment is going through a very high rate of growth, and coupled with a rising level of required services, this will provide an exciting challenge for a well-qualified senior security engineer.

Responsibilities

Analyze business needs and assist in designing, implementing and maintaining an infrastructure to meet those needs. Evaluate and recommend detailed technical solutions for implementing various security projects. This may include technical research, third party product evaluations, and sample script writing. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of various operational security requirements across all IT departments. Understand and, where appropriate, challenge technical suggestions/solutions put forth by developers and systems administrators while maintaining a cohesive working environment. Analyze and diagnose problems relating to a wide variety of complex hardware and software issues operating across a range of platforms. Participate in various audits, risk assessments, investigations, and security incident handling throughout the organization. Manage the roll-out of new hardware and software. Ensure that corrective and preventive measures are performed on existing equipment and systems. Analyze system performance and make appropriate recommendations to ensure adequate current and future levels of service. Design and implement monitoring and reporting functions.



Requirements

Minimum five years of experience in IT Security, including designing, supporting and maintaining a high-performance, stable internet-facing infrastructure. Strong knowledge of Web, FTP, secure transport mechanisms, DNS, load balancing, e-mail, firewalls, proxies, Socks, cryptography and IDS is required. Good working knowledge of networking, UNIX, Windows, scripting and databases. Ability to divulge and understand the real underlying security issues and appropriately ascertain practical and manageable solutions to mitigate the risks. Ability to quickly analyze problems and to implement standard and extensible solutions. Must be able to troubleshoot and find solutions to complex problems. Strong communication, documentation and teamwork skills. College degree preferred, including formal coursework in Engineering or Computer Science. Flexible hours required. Maintenance and installation work usually performed outside of regular working hours. Must be willing to be contactable 24 hours per day when on call.
