Network Engineer II

 

Candidate will be responsible for configuration, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of data, voice and video networks. Key duties include, but are not limited to, configuring and installing Cisco hardware and software, monitoring network performance and historical data for proactive issue resolution.

Candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Candidate must have 2-5 years hands-on experience with Cisco technology along with the following technical skills:

 

?  Current CCNA certification.  Other Cisco certifications a plus.

?  Working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst, VPN, PIX, and IDS solutions

?  Proficient in Cisco line commands

?  Configure IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateway addresses on routers and hosts

?  Configure VLANS and inter-switch communication

?  Microsoft VISIO experience in drawing network diagrams.

?  Implement access lists

?  Install and configure key networking services such as DNS, WINS, DHCP, RRAS and IIS.

 

The candidate should be able to perform the following tasks with no supervision.Customize switch configurations to meet specified network requirements Manage Cisco image and device configuration files Perform initial configurations on routers and switches Implement WAN protocols Perform WAN, LAN and VLAN troubleshooting Troubleshoot OSPF routing protocols Troubleshoot IP addressing and host configuration Document tasks and make recommendations regarding existing procedures.

 

While the primary function of this position is the day to day operations of the Cisco infrastructure, candidate should also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows networking including the following:Configuration and implementation of Microsoft DNS, WINS, DHCP and Print servicesBasic knowledge of Active Directory user and computer accountsActive Directory organizational units and group policiesExtensive knowledge of Microsoft DNS

 

This position requires the engineer to perform backup duties for at least one other primary area.
