Senior Network Engineer - Telecommunications Operations - Louisville, KY (RA)

The Sr. NOC Engineer will manage the voice and data networks or modifies networks utilizing a broad and highly technical knowledge of the business area’s functions and applications in the network architecture, hardware environment, software environment, and departmental procedures and processes.  All network, incident, problem, change, configuration, asset, and practices.  As a Lead, NOC Network Engineer V, this position will also manage NOC staff and coordinate staffing and scheduling activities.
 Candidate must be able and willing to work on a rotating shift assignment, work 12 or 10 hour shift schedules, holidays, weekends, nights, and days.
Essential Functions:
 
? Responsible for the operation of effective voice and data networks which impact multiple clients and business areas throughout the firm.  Maintain positive customer experience.
? Recommends networking policy changes consistent with corporate objectives. 
? Responsible for monitoring utilization levels and trends throughout the firm to determine quality of service of both voice and data communications.
? Overseas the management and control of networking configurations and provides management support for networking issues. 
? Provides networking (data and voice) strategic planning and management activities in areas surrounding architecture, standards, product evaluations, capacity planning, 2nd / 3rd level support, security and audio/visual.
? Overseas the management and communications of the Networking group to provide for common support services which include service level reporting, technical delivery, and other core networking group functions.
? Manages and directs a professional staff of network engineers on multiple highly complex network infrastructures.  Build weekly staffing schedule (12x3, 10x4, 8x5 rosters)
? Provides single point of contact for global operating company monitoring, provisioning and implementation of networking services.
? Creates, defines, implements and manages cross-functional level-1 customer care activities sources from the service centers..
? Identifies or creates networking best practices, policies, procedures, across the global networking enterprise. Work with Data, Voice, & Security specialist groups in day to day operations.
? Acts as a SME in all areas of networking (voice and data).
 



Qualifications:

 5 - 7 years of NOC experience in a global network environment. Strong Customer relationship skills CCIE level knowledge of network environment in a predominantly Cisco shop. Proven ability to work and support a global network spanning 140 countries and 3500 devices.  Must be able to work with global staff. Full understating of common networking services such as DHCP, DNS, URL Filtering, Security, and common network management appliances. Must have full and practical understanding of  TCP/IP and the full OSI model. Expert level knowledge in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and other common networking protocols. Expert operational knowledge of CA Spectrum, Service Center, Opsware, and other network enabled EMS automation and instrumentation tools. Expert level knowledge of Cisco IOS across routing, switching and security devices. Must demonstrate advanced capabilities in IPT. Must demonstrate advanced capabilities in managing NOC staff, coordinating schedules, and handling day to day employee HR functions. Candidate must be able and willing to work on a rotating shift assignment, work 12 or 10 hour shift schedules, holidays, weekends, nights, and days. Understand industry best practices in review of security infrastructure change requests Strong documentation skills and be able to develop, write, and train others in NOC policies and procedures. Must be capable of providing support for projects outside of normal work day
