Senior Oracle Database Administrator (78412-570)

Description

This position will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the data warehouse Oracle 10G RAC database environment ensuring high perfromance and availability of the system.

Responsible for:
ELT process and development support.
Database Performance Tuning: Including working with developers and designers on improving query performance, ELT performance, and overall database performance.
Database administration: including installing and configuring software, applying patches, disaster recovery processes, backup and recovery capacity planning, and regular, daily, weekly, monthly, periodic maintenance tasks
Database Object creation, DDL preparation and implementation, modification, and maintenance.
Database Availability: including monitoring, alerting, and proactively maintaining database to avoid loss of database access and availability.


 Required Skills


BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5+ years experience in data base administration with hands-on experience with Oracle 9i/10G RAC using ASM in an HP-UX environment. Experience with SQL Server a plus.
Experience with Veritas Netbackup software or similar product.
Minimum 5 years experience managing and administering an Oracle database for a enterprise data warehouse.
Experience working with data warehouse architects and developers in building a high performance enterprise data warehouse.
Required knowledge and hands-on experience of HP and Hitachi storage platforms.
Demonstrated experience with planning, designing, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Oracle 10G/9i RAC databases.
Demonstrated Oracle 10G/9i database performance tuning skills.
Demonstrated ability performance tune Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
Demonstrated ability developing Unix shell scripts.
Minimum 5-7 years experience with logical/physical data design in an Oracle database environment for data warehousing especially star schema data modeling.
Demonstrated skills in Data warehouse methods and technologies. Understanding of the data warehouse ETL processes. Provides insight and recommendations based business and technical requirements.
Experience and knowledgeable about Informatica Powercenter version 7 a plus.
Demonstrated experience with Business Objects or similar applications.
Demonstrated experience with the database DBA/developer tool TOAD.
Demonstrated experience with the data modeling tool Erwin.
Experience with Oracle ERP applications especially Oracle Financials applications is a plus.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.
