Senior PMO Project Manager

One of our downtown clients is looking for a Sr. PMO Project Manager on a permanent basis.

 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

This position is responsible for successfully directing all aspects of large scope client and/or internal projects (e.g., projects typically greater than 3,600 hours and spanning multiple months and possibly multiple years).

 

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Develops, plans, and manages all activities associated with the implementation of highly complex projects and small programs with broad scope, high impact and long implementation time frames.  Consults with clients, senior IT personnel and business management to ensure projects meet goals and milestones that are in line with business objectives.  Provides project leadership to a team of conversion and/or IT professionals to guarantee that the project is delivered on time and within budget with superior quality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Acts as a single point of contact for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects.

2. Participates in strategic planning sessions with both client and management stakeholders to determine the scope and objectives of each project, ensuring the highest customer satisfaction and that project goals are in line with business objectives.

3. Leads projects from inception through final deployment and manages all related project activities including developing proposals and project strategies as well as supporting business cases.

4. Facilitates cross-functional teams lead by other project managers and/or team leaders who are all focused on successfully delivering the project.  Identifies and staffs all project roles and manages the performance of each project team member and project manager assigned to the project.

5. Works in partnership with business and IT leaders to obtain and commit necessary resources at the appropriate time, level, and expertise to support assigned project.

6. Works with Purchasing and Legal to negotiate contracts and manage overall vendor relationships to ensure project cost control and on time delivery.

7. Monitors progress, updates client and management stakeholders on project?s progress and resolves any conflicts between client expectations, actual work output, and on time delivery of product. 

8. Partners closely with senior IT leaders to ensure all technology is coordinated for on time delivery.

9. Manages project budgets, justifies project costs and reports on budget status/variances.

10. Ensures project?s compliance with PMO standards and guidelines, using appropriate project management tools, processes and procedures.

11. Provides to appropriate management regular and documented performance feedback on project team members at the conclusion of each project in accordance with defined performance management system standards.

12. Maximizes team?s performance through coaching, mentoring and maintaining positive morale of project team members as well as building resource competencies during the course of the project through job rotation, stretching/challenging, job sharing and on-the-job training.

 

 

Job Related Experience: Ten years of progressive experience as a business consultant or IT professional that includes short-term and long-range strategic planning, budgeting, systems analysis and design.Five years of project management experience to include five years experience leading complex, mission critical projects that involve significant business and technology change.Leadership of large teams in a matrix environment with demonstrated record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor both direct reporting and matrixed personnel.Experience in developing, negotiating and managing vendor relationships with outside suppliers, including design and tracking of service level agreements.Knowledge of business case development including cost/benefit analysis, and current and future state assessment.
