Senior Project Manager- Best Practices (0567)

Job Description: Basic Function: As part of M&T's Project Management Office the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for management, planning, tracking, communication of status, documentation, test results and the implementation of technical aspects of business projects or technology driven projects.  Facilitates activities for enterprise projects and oversees the work of other Project Managers.  Evaluates process improvements and implements best practices within the PMO.


Responsibilities:
*Evaluates current practices within M&T's PMO and drives the implementation to move recommendations forward
*Organizes overall technical project plan
*Ensures adherence to all current project methodology standards and procedures
*Reviews business requirements and possibly translate requirements into functional specifications and systems designs
*Provide analytical support to other team members and client groups in defining requirements
*Manage the entire technical assessment process
*Prepares initial project costs; tracks actual costs during the life of a project
*Reports on project costs variances
*Manage projects which are considered high risk, extremely complex, or enterprise wide in size
*Identifies people who can do the work required for the project and obtains commitment of their time from their managers
*Directs and monitors resources; ensures completion of schedules
*Serves as a coach to direct reports (Sr. PM's) on project methodology
*Applies pressure on a regular basis for the project to move forward
*Responsible for project communications
*Initiates or participates in the request for proposal process, including vendor  management
*Provides input to managers for performance appraisals, based on project participants' performance.


Basic Qualifications:
*Minimum of ten years experience in project related work, systems analysis and a systems development environment
*Experience leading large scope, complex projects with a complete understanding of a project life cycle methodology
*Experience leading projects with a minimum budget of $1MM
*Four to five years managerial experience

Ideal Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree
*PMP Certification
*Experience working within the financial services industry
*Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a proven ability of interacting with executive level management
