Senior QA Test Engineer

The Banking Products IT (BPIT) group is responsible for applications development related to the Banking Products business at UBS Investment Bank. The Banking Products business is concerned with acquisition finance, leveraged finance and loan portfolio management as well as related syndication, trading and sales activity. The role is that of a senior developer involved in the Total Return Swaps trading flow, specifically for loans. This includes the NTS system and the associated downstream flow. The system will support the trading, valuation and operations of the Business. An initial release of the application has occurred, but more development is required to complete the existing product set, add new products and implement the application across other desks.

Based in Stamford, the candidate's focus will initially be on the development of regression test packs for the application. It is essential that they possess excellent quality assurance process and technical skills, good communication tools. The candidate will be required to interface with other teams within the Banking Products area. As such, they will be required to be a team player. The role will report to the QA manager of FIRC Banking Products IT team in the US. Ideally the candidate will already have QA lead experience or show the potential to step into a lead roll within a 3 to 6 months period.

As a senior QA Test Engineer, the candidate will review functional specifications, extract testing requirements, document and execute manual test cases and develop test automation scripts. All deliverables will adhere to the BPIT QA methodology, which defines the end-to-end testing process flow for all BPIT Applications. Priority will be creation of manual regression test scripts to cover all basic application functionality for the NTS system.

The ideal candidate will have the following preferred background:

* A good understanding of the systems development lifecycle is a requirement as is general knowledge of financial / trading systems, business rules and terminology, with an emphasis on capital markets or credit derivatives.

* Extensive QA methodology, tools and techniques background. (6 - 10 yrs)

* Experiences developing and executing test cases for large / complex business applications (3 - 5 yrs)

* Experienced with automated test tools, preferably Winrunner and / or QTP (2 - 3 yrs)

* Familiar with TestDirector and ClearCase. (2-3 yrs)

* Technically adept in Windows, Unix, and Oracle DBMS. (3 - 5 yrs)

* Quick learner. Ability to apply existing financial / trading knowledge to existing application and documentation in a short time frame.

* A proven track record in delivering results under time pressure is a must along with the ability and willingness to multitask and do whatever necessary to help make their project a success.

* Good communication skills. Ability to interact with various internal groups, such as developer, business analysts and team leads

Basic Qualifications

* Four year degree (BA/BS) or international equivalent in Computer Science related major.

* A minimum of 8 years experience in quality assurance, with at least 5 years experience as a manual / automated test engineer.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to understand requirements, communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management
* Strong client orientation - must have good interpersonal skills.

* Aware of need for standards and quality.

* Team orientation - take an interest in the work of the wider BP IT team, and liaise where appropriate with other groups.

* Delivery oriented - used to meeting strict deadlines, whilst producing quality work.

* Self-driven, motivated, and goal oriented

* Good knowledge of the investment banking industry in general.

* Good knowledge of capital markets or credit derivatives or credit front office.

* Experience with Loan Systems and/or Swap Derivatives is required.

* Strong written verbal communication skills.
