Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (123969-563)

Description The purpose of this job is to assist in the development and implementation of quality test strategies and methods in compliance with overall QA Methodology for Premier?s Healthcare Informatics IT solutions. This job is responsible for the technical and process assessment, analysis and testing of IT product lines that are developed for Premier customers. This position works in collaboration with the Applications Quality Assurance Supervisor and/or Lead(s); Quality Assurance team; the Project Management team; the Data Warehouse team; the Solutions Center and other IT stakeholders to ensure that the applications development projects? test strategies and methods are efficient and meet requirements based on technical implications/impact/architecture/configuration analysis. This position ensures documented tests have met the required deliverables. Role includes planning, designing, executing and tracking the results of associated test efforts, technical risks, configuration and environment implications.



Major Accountabilities
Strategic Development, Documentation, and Test Execution:

Define/Develop/Implement the planning, design and execution for requirements-based testing of complex web-enabled business intelligence applications, client/server applications, and extract, transform, and load applications.

Implement, monitor and improve company-wide best software development practices including but not limited to test methodologies, change control, version control, requirements analysis, coding standards etc.

Extensive experience developing complex SQL queries using querying tools

Ability to develop PL/SQL blocks, stored procedures

Comfortable with loading test data into databases and query execution

Experience with database conversions and scripting

Strong command of SQL/PL-SQL and understanding of relational databases, specifically Oracle 8i/9i and SQL Server 8 as well as the idiosyncracies involved in each

Understands ETL processes and testing

Experience with Unix shell scripting/Unix commands to execute automated processes

Ability to define/document/maintain test approach utilizing QA and testing standards

Conduct group tests, test scripts, report and track any deviations

Enhance current manual, automated and load testing methodologies.

Review application documentation to ensure highest level of quality

Collaborate with the Project Management group to ensure appropriate QA information is updated and distributed to necessary stakeholders

 Required Skills


Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science/CIS

Four years experience in quality assurance and Software Development role. Proven experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Four years of technical experience to include architecture analysis, data modeling, database support and analysis.



Knowledge, skills and abilities required

Proven ability to work in a matrix environment.

Ability to test software applications.

Ability to analyze and discover software deviations in compliance with coding standards and development.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include advanced interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work autonomously with very limited supervision as well as collaboratively with others.

Able to work independently as assignments are given and ask the right questions

Ability to ensure QA documentation is developed/maintained from project to project for those projects assigned

Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts e.g. star schemas, hierarchies, facts etc.

Thorough Understanding of the SDLC as it applies to QA artifacts, processes and activities
