Senior SAN Engineer

?  Strategy-based position involved with planning and solution architecture as well as a tactical position involved with the execution of Storage Networking operations.

?  Responsible for planning, allocating storage, architecting storage layouts, planning connectivity, policy design, performance tuning, instituting disaster recovery processes, cataloging maintenance and QA testing.

?  Knowledge of servers; operating systems; file systems; operations; disk drives; fiber channel; virtualization in the array, fabric and host; applications; bus adapters and interconnect hardware.

?  Knowledge of general Storage Network concepts and in area of interoperability of storage networking.

?  Daily activities: storage provisioning, performance tuning, adding volumes, scripting for automation of tasks, assigning ports, error tracking, data movement, software configurations, product evaluation, message delivery system and addressing compatibility issues.

?  Additional activities: continuous analysis of performance, tracking revisions for compatibility, tape operations support, catalog maintenance and account migration.

?  Role will be responsible for the implementation of all modifications and changes to the SAN infrastructure

?  Mentor some of the junior staff we currently have and also help drive the roadmap for SAN 3.

 

EDUCATION

?  Degree not required, but is a plus.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

?  Sr. SAN administrator with 5 to 7 years experience managing EMC, HDS, and HP Storage Arrays.

?  Expert knowledge of Navisphere and associated array tools including MirrorView, SnapView, SAN Copy, and navicli.

?  Experience with Brocade Silkworm 3900 and 12000 switch configuration, management, and Fabric Manager.

?  Knowledge of EMC Control Center (ECC), Workload Analyzer, and StorageScope.

?  Experience administrating HP XP512 with CommandView. Knowledge of HP OVSAM.

?  Deploy redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of stored data assets.

?  Work with other business group team members to deploy storage solutions which meet business objectives.

?  Adhere to service level agreements regarding storage allocations, limitations, and availability.

?  Analyze storage equipment performance, collect information, and prepare reports.

?  Monitor and troubleshoot SAN device status.

?  Solid skills in Unix and Windows operating systems.

?  6+ years of System Administration experience encompassing Windows and Solaris.

?  4+ years of experience with building and maintaining Storage Area Networks.

?  Knowledge of the Microsoft, Solaris, and other UNIX based OS?s platforms as it relates to mounting and managing LUN's and HBA configuration.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

?  Implementation and support of an enterprise data storage infrastructure and capacity planning analysis.

?  Support of enterprise storage area network and other projects as assigned by next level management.

?  Monitors and coordinates storage allocations to achieve efficient storage utilization desired storage performance.

?  Ensure adequate capacity for all storage systems and provides for data recovery/integrity within storage policy guidelines.

?  Implements storage management policies and procedures.

?  Ensure compliance of all SOP?s (Standard Operating Procedures) and any other network related procedures.

?  Tier 3 support of all IT supported applications. 

?  Ensure external and internal customer satisfaction with our IT services.

?  Help identify opportunities for process and systems improvements to ensure continuous improvement in relevant processes, including future network strategies.

?  Ensure overall integrated technical architecture exists for all systems and processes in relevant customer areas.

?  Work with other internal departments to ensure planning and implementation of adequate infrastructure capabilities for these customer areas, including network, PC?s, remote access etc.

?  Manage monitoring of the servers to detect errors and design correction methods.

?  Update documentation to record new equipment installed, new sites, and changes to server configurations.

?  Manage Service Level Agreements with other business entities.

?  Cross-training of peers on server configuration and monitoring tools.
