Senior SQL Server DBA

SAIC has an immediate need for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server DBA. Qualified candidates should have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL Server. Position will be on the Naval Support Activity in NAVSISA in support of the DPAS system. The position will be a lead in redesigning the system from a client server system to a .net web based system. Position will have the ability to telecommute 100% (with some travel).

Responsibilities:
o Design, implement and maintain MS SQL Server database environment.
o Develop and implement database security policies consistent with client?s security guidelines.
o Lead all database architecture, design, data analysis, and data loading for system.
o Monitor database for optimal data storage, performance and connectivity.
o Database installation & configuration including upgrades and patch management.
o Design and implement database backup and recovery processes that meet client?s availability and job monitoring requirements.
o Responsible for meeting goals within time constraints.

Required Skills/Education:
o Bachelor's degree in related field and 7+ years related experience (4 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
o 4+ years Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience is required.
o Experience with native Windows scripting, knowledge of the Windows operating system (platform, server, and workstation, transact SQL development and scripting experience) required.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative.

Desired Skills:
o Experience with data modeling/entity relationship software tools desired.
o Expert performance tuning/MS SQL server development skills also desired - SQL Profiler and Performance Monitor, SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, functions and transactions analysis, thorough understanding of indices and statistics (Query Optimizer).
