POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Senior Database Developer will develop data models, design data access strategies and write SQL code to access and manipulate data stored in relational databases that support enterprise eCommerce applications.  He/she will gain a thorough understanding of our client?s database environment/infrastructure to analyze requirements, design and implement database solutions. 

 

In addition, the Senior Database Developer will work with other groups within IT, including business/system analysts, application developers, DBA?s and QA to design and develop solutions to serve the business.  Finally, he/she will assist developers with performance tuning of database code and provide code reviews and mentoring to other developers for database code.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:5+ years hands-on experience with requirements analysis, design and development of high transaction/scalable relational databases in a distributed database environment with a concentration on Microsoft?s SQL Server.Experience with logical/physical data modeling & normalization in complex database environments.Experience working with other groups within IT, including business/system analysts, application developers, DBA?s and QA to design and develop solutions to serve the business.Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting complex database problems.Experience with developing data maintenance and retrieval applications.Experience with data migration best practices.Must be able to work in a time-critical environment and be decisive when faced with complex problems.  Solid, demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work on/manage multiple tasks concurrently. 

 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:BS/BA in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent preferred; Masters Degree a plus. Experience with CA?s Erwin Data Modeler.Experience with Microsoft web technologies (VB.Net or C#, ASP.net, ASP, XML/XSL, HTML, JavaScript) and best practice techniques. Understanding and use of project management tools, including the MS Office suite, Visio, MS Project and Visual SourceSafe.Experience with web-based eCommerce environment supporting high volume, transactional applications deployed on server farms.
