Senior Software Developer (J2EE)

Our client, a fast growing financial services company, is seeking a Senior Software Developer who will work as a substantial contributor to the application development team using skills and experience in problem solving, solution design, and programming techniques. The Senior Developer will address requests concerning a user?s business needs, design efficient system enhancements that meet those needs, and coordinate implementation of the changes. Duties include writing program specifications, leading small projects, and mentoring junior staff on programming techniques, as assigned. The Senior Developer will also provide on-going production system support and perform other duties as required.

Abilities and Skills Profile:
5+ years J2EE/Java programming experience required
2+ years Oracle PL/SQL programming required
2+ years WSAD, Web Objects, Web Services
2+ years successful leadership experience.
- Strong design experience required
- UML, RUP, Design Patterns, Oracle BC4J, UIX frameworks (preferred)
- Oracle Forms/Reports (preferred)
- Oracle AQ use with JMS (preferred)
- Configuration management with Ant (desired)
- Ability to design and code moderately complex to complex reports and modules
- Effective documentation, writing and speaking skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Bachelors degree required (any technical discipline)

General Duties:
- Program with assigned languages and tools.
- Develop efficient, well-tested code that meets departmental standards
- Determine necessary production turnover tasks, prepare required documents, and follow through to ensure smooth implementation of software release implementation.
- Prepare time estimates for assigned projects and tasks.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of system design techniques, including efficiency and controls.
- Develop test plans for programming assignments.
- Prepare code and support documentation for production implementation.
- Contribute to project reviews.
- Understand the general business functions of assigned applications.
- Research and identify program and application problems, and suggest practical resolutions.
- Develop unit test plans and assistance in the development of application test plans.
- Adhere to structured or object-oriented programming, analysis, and design techniques
- Participate in quality assurance, design walk-through, and code walk-through.
- Develop a simple to moderate understanding of all application systems.
- Handle on-call responsibilities for production systems.
- Effective interaction with users when designing, completing, and testing assignments.
- Interview users during system analysis and design
- Provide user support with very little assistance.
- Mentor junior staff on programming techniques
