Senior software engineer to develop applications to support the Defined Benefits business. In this role you will be responsible for leading development for multiple development project simutaneously. As a Senior Software Engineer/Developer, you will create innovative designs for Java/ J2EE, C++ and .NET applications, mentor junior developers, share knowledge across the information systems community and partner with architects to enhance our applications.

 

In this role you will become part of team environment where you will be responsible for reviewing the requirements, design, code and test cases of development projects. Challenging the existing implementation of solutions and striving for the ideal solution are key components of success in this position.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

? Lead a team of developers to deliver of high visibility, complex technical projects

? Provide leadership and guidance to junior developers

? Interpret business problems and translate them into technical solutions

? Create designs to solve complex technical problems

? Strive to continually improve processes to help us deliver high quality solutions at lower cost

? Work closely with project management to plan and estimate project effort and cost

? Contribute to a teamwork environment by actively participating in peer project reviews, code reviews, design reviews and being available to help others when needed.

? Contribute to a fun, challenging environment where professional growth and learning are a key focus

? Responsible for the development of high quality solutions consistent with architectural guidelines and best practices

? Contribute to multiple projects concurrently

? Participates in the Object Modeling and the creation of Sequence Diagrams

? Create clear and thorough project documentation

? Responsible for clear, concise written and oral communications



 ? 5 - 8 years of Java/J2EE (JSP, Servlets, EJBs), strong C++, some .NET

? 5-8 years using the object development methodology (object modeling and sequence diagrams)

? Experience developing business applications

? Structured design and testing experience required

? Bachelor’s degree in MIS/Computer Science or related field
