Senior System Administrator

 As Senior System Administrator, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

 Install, configure, monitor and operate UNIX (including AIX, and Linux) and AS400 systems.  This includes ongoing operational activities as well as problem management, system communication, user assistance and training as necessary, system backups, account management, security auditing, performance and capacity management, technology awareness and hardware/software installs, patching and upgrades.

 Work with peer IT groups to implement new applications and resolve problems with current systems and applications.  This includes system sizing and configuration, installing applications to standards, developing shell scripts to automate functions such as log file rotation and monitoring, and working in conjunction with application support team with application vendors as needed.

 Automation of standard activities in cooperation with Support Services to develop first level problem procedures.  Develop methods of issue avoidance, notification, and resolution.

 Provide backup support across other technologies, including Microsoft Servers(2000/2003), database and network, via both formal and on the job training. 

 

?  Identify and develop process improvements, standards and policies across technical architectures.

 

?  Write and update technical documentation.

 

?  Assist in development and testing of disaster recovery plans. Administer and Manage NOMAX replication on a daily basis.  Perform full system rollover quarterly.

 

?  Provide off-hours coverage and administration as necessary.

 

?  Contribute to strategic plans of department, such as server, storage, and other technologies.

 

General Requirements:

 Degree in Computer Science or related job experience. AIX certification and training preferred.

 Effective team member on concurrent tasks/projects. Attention to service excellence and detail. Excellent analytic, communication, interpersonal skills, and customer relation skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills.  Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment

 Ability to work with minimal supervision

 

 

Technical Requirements

 3 years hands-on systems administration on UNIX systems with at least 1 year AIX.  Experience with system backup environments, Microsoft tools and/or Oracle databases on AIX systems a plus.

 Familiarity with directory management, such as Active  Directory and LDAP, and network management including DHCP, DNS.

 Shell scripting (Perl, KIX32, TCL, cscript, VBscript)

 Experience with backup software and hardware such as Veritas
