Senior Systems Engineer - Internal Staff Position

DESCRIPTION:

 

Develop and apply advance network design concepts, methods, and research techniques to refine business processes and improve efficiencies through technology.  Plan, direct, conduct and participate in cross functional technical projects.  Install, manage and troubleshoot Linux hosts and common open?source applications including Apache, MySql, MRTG, Snort, and Ethereal.  Implement and resolve complex technical solutions and issues associated with Unix, Linux, Windows 2000, Firewall, DNS, Oracle, Sybase, HTTP, Veritas,  MS Proxy, VPN and system security. Perform network probes, system audits and penetration test while assisting Security Manager with the development and implementation of security policies and  procedures. Research and review literature and current practices relevant to security standards and technologies.  Coordinate work efforts to support the LAN engineers in system design, administration, configuration and troubleshooting of local and remote office LANs.  Assist WAN Engineer on infrastructure architecture initiatives from design through implementation.  Manage, document and administer corporate  and legacy business applications.  Refine business processes and improve efficiencies through technologies.  Support Security Manager efforts and initiatives.  Assist with the development and implementation of disaster recovery business continuity plans.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Extensive Knowledge in the areas of: Multiple Operating System HP-UX, Linux, Windows 2000NIS, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS  and S endmail in a mixed environment  Networks; designing, theory, operation, protocol, and troubleshooting.Web servers and applicable protocols: HTTP, HTTPS,  TCPIP, FTP and Telnet.Veritas Backup Exec and NetBackup DataCenter in a mixed OS environmentLogical Volume Manager (LVM), POP, and IMAP.  Radius, remote access and VPN technologiesDesigning, setup and configuring VLAN, switches, port bridging and spanningConfiguring and using Cisco Security Agent for servers (CSA)Firewall concepts and configurationSQL as it applies to Oracle and SybaseUtilize tools to improve security posture and capabilities
