We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and talented individual for the position of Sr. Technical Engineer in Middlebury, CT. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Technology Services & Support, this position is responsible for planning, evaluating, acquiring, developing, deploying, maintaining and supporting data management and software engineering processes, methods and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
? Shared responsibility for: AIX support of 65+ IBM RS/6000 Servers.
? Shared responsibility for: TSM support of 200+ clients, IBM 3494 ATL.
?Shared responsibility for: SAN support of over 42TB of data distributed over three disk subsystems.
? Develop and document processes, standards and best practices.
? Develop and maintain baseline documentation for all systems including architectural diagrams, logical mappings, technology version information, application utilization descriptions, and system contact information.
? Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery plans.
? Perform Capacity Planning analysis. Collaborate with other technical and/or user groups to achieve desired goals.
Qualifications include:
? BS Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
? Experience in IBM AIX v5.x, IBM pSeries & SP hardware platforms (minimum 4 years): System architecture, file system administration, user administration, security, shell scripting, Dynamic LPAR, VIO, HMC, Ssh, Sudo, Sysback, ESS, SSA, PSSP, and NFS.
?Experience in IBM TSM v5.x, scheduling, storage pool creation, migration, reclamation, performance-tuning, capacity planning, user, domain, policy set administration, retention administration, disaster recovery management. Backup and recovery for Tier-1 production critical systems.
?Experience in SAN administration, Brocade Silkworm Gigabit FC Switches, 20 IBM E1A Fibre- attached tape drives.
? Demonstration of solid problem solving techniques.
? Initiative and ability to work autonomously.
? Experience with system documentation and technical writing.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Experience with SAP Basis, Oracle databases, Windows NT/2000.
