Senior / Technology Operations Specialist

This position is for a Database Administrator (DBA) who will support the database environment for PPL's business applications. The DBA's are responsible for supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases and supporting software implementation projects.

Responsibilities:

-- Work in a team environment supporting operational issues and project work for PPL's business application environment.
-- Implementation, configuration, management, monitoring, and support of PPL's database environment. Technologies include Oracle and MS SqlServer on both Windows and Unix servers.
-- Database support including performance monitoring and capacity planning.
-- Development and improvement of process and procedures supporting the DBA group.
-- Database Security Support including password changes, security patches, and SOX reporting and compliance related activities.

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

Basic Qualifications:

-- A bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Management or in a technical field.
-- Two to five years recent experience supporting Oracle databases. Experience with SQL Server databases, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Application Servers is a plus.

Other Qualifications:

-- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
-- Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the proven ability to work in a team environment.
-- Strong script writing skills.

Note: Successful completion of Security Clearance procedure is required.
