Senior UNIX/Websphere/MQ Administrator (Sun Solaris)
Principal Duties and Essential Functions:
? Support development configuration, configuration management, installation and monitoring of developed WebSphere JAVA applications in dev, test and production environments
? Create, test and maintain/update and monitor WebSphere MQ queue managers, queues and network channels
? Assist PC-based software developers as needed with the UNIX environment and basic commands
? Under the direction of the Lead UNIX Administrator responsible for the installation, configuration and performance tuning of the operating system.
? Responsible for research on OS, application patches and upgrades.
? Perform installations and upgrades of system software, hardware and firmware
? Perform all periodic maintenance activities on UNIX servers, including system software configuration, user account maintenance, file system and volume management, OS patch installation testing and rollout, and email/sendmail support
? Automate common procedures to increase efficiency
? Develop and maintain complete documentation of all systems
? Develop and maintain back-up strategies and security plans
? Create and maintain OS and application level monitoring tools and strategies
? Serve as an internal technical consultant to application development teams and others
? Provide off-hours production support, as needed
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIRED
? Bachelor?s degree in Computer, Math or equivalent technical field
? Minimum of 10 years experience
? Experience with UNIX shell scripting required. Scripting with KSH and Perl a plus.
? Experience with UNIX networking required ? TCP, DNS, NTP
? Experience with WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ Series, WebSphere Message Broker required
? Experience in troubleshooting systems required
? Experience with Sun, Fujitsu and UNIX workstations required
? Experience with Hitachi SAN, EMC SAN, or Sun SAN required
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
HIGHLY PREFERRED
? Veritas Netbackup or equivalent (Legato, Amanda, etc.) highly preferable
? Experience with clustering using Veritas and volume management are highly preferable
? Experience with Sun Solaris disk suite is highly preferable
PLUSES
? Experienced in MQ Software Qnami and QPasa a plus
? Scripting or programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C++, C, Java, Python, Perl, TCL/TK a plus
? Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Oracle 9i or Sybase
? Experience with IBM monitoring tools such as Tivoli, Candle, etc. a plus
? Experience with secure shell and SSL, Samba, basic Windows XP/2000 administration is a plus
? Familiarity with Solaris Jumpstart and secure configuration is a plus
