Senior Windows Systems Administrator

 This position will be part of a Systems Services (IT) workgroup supporting day-to-day user and server administration and network support for over 1700 desktop computers, as well as support of longer-term projects. The desktop computing environment consists of PC's running Windows XP, Linux, as well as Macintosh?s. The server environment consists of HP servers running Windows 2003.  Support includes, but is not limited to, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades and installation server hardware and software



Duties will including:  System Administration and TCP/IP networking experience with Windows 2000/2003.Experience leading and coaching/training front line administration and data center staff.Experience as a technical leader in a multi-national data centerKnowledge of current industry trends. Strong problem solving skills.Business liaison relationship to our software and IT development organizations

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Generate and implement standards, guidelines, and procedures for the global IT organization.Lead root-cause analysis teams to resolve issues and create new processes and procedures.Design high quality systems implementations.Perform thorough and high quality testing.Generate designs and hold cross functional design reviews of their proposals.Transfers knowledge and skills to other team members, front line staff, and management. Create processes and procedures for systems management.Personally responsible for a number of Windows Servers on HP Intel Server hardware.Escalation contact for Windows server or service issues within the Data Center group. Create recommendations for standard hardware / software changes.

 

Qualifications/Knowledge Requirements: Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information System or related field or equivalent experience.9-13 years of Windows Server system administration experienceExperience scripting in Perl/Java/VB script as well as use of Microsoft Visual StudioExpert knowledge of desktop and Server Operating SystemsComplete knowledge of networking topology and protocols.Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to Server operating systems and hardwareKnowledge of current industry trends.Experience leading and working with junior System Administration staffStrong technical, analytical and problem solving skillsCustomer focus and dedication to customer satisfactionExcellent judgment, decision making, and organizational skillsMust work effectively in a deadline oriented often high pressure environment Strong initiative, self-motivation, ability to complete tasks on timeAbility to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervisionAbility to identify, champion, document, and implement process improvementsPrevious experience in a multi-national IT Data Center organizationMicrosoft SQL Server or SMS experience is highly desirable.Strong inter-personal and communication skills, both written and verbal; capable of explaining complex procedures.Possesses self-initiative during low demand time to proactively identify and pursue process improvements. Linux/UNIX knowledge is a plusSNMP / Network monitoring experienceMS Clustering / High availability and SAN / NAS administration experience is required
