Server Engineer IV

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or technical training equivalent.

B. EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. At least five years of related experience.Typically has 8 to 10+ years of IT work experience in supporting, troubleshooting complex Windows environments. 

C. SKILLS - MCSE Certifications required. Expert knowledge of multiple technologies, products and applications. Knowledge of functional and empirical analysis techniques. Advanced knowledge of competing and alternative technologies. Ability to develop technical standards and interface applications and identify and evaluate new products.  Ability to resolve complex network problems. Good organization and project planning skills. Advanced capabilities in communicating and documenting new processes for production implementation. Quick, efficient, thorough, and knowledgeable are good descriptive words about this position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to quickly analyze, learn, and monitor efficiently a complex LAN environment.
Must also be able to work equally well with little-to-no supervision as well as with "hands-on" guidance.
Responsible for design, build, implementation, and performance monitoring/tuning of Win2k/2k3 servers.
Ability to locally and remotely manage and troubleshoot Active Directory, Exchange 2003, SQL 2000, SMS 2003, MOM2005, clustered servers, Sharepoint, VMWare ESX host servers (to include VCenter and VMotion) and VMs, as well as all systems (hardware, SAN, etc.) supporting these functions. 
Works with Data Center Operations to ensure highest possible availability and scalability of server applications and systems.
Performs complex tasks relating to performance and capacity planning. 
Experience with configuring and administering virtual servers and node pools using BigIP F5 a plus. 
Responsible for managing, configuring, and troubleshooting server/SAN backup routines using Veritas Netbackup and Vault (using DLT and LTO+ tape libraries)_as well as Symantec LiveState Recovery. 
Experience with SAN hardware and software technologies also a plus.
Responsible also for performing code deployments to UAT and Production server environments, and coordinating the performance of these activities with team members in remote locations.

The scope of responsibility for this position includes, but is not limited to, the configuration, implementation, testing and support of monitoring and reporting tools (MOM, HP-OpenView and SolarWinds) components to provide a secure, highly available infrastructure environment
Expert professional level role.
Provides technical support and maintenance for existing and new infrastructure services.
Works on moderate to complex projects as a team member.
May lead team and coach more junior technical staff.
