The position is located in Northbrook, IL

 

The purpose of this document is to provide direction on the technical architecture for Allstate Insurance Company

 

This person is responsible for both tactical and strategic direction for Email, Collaboration, Sharepoint Services, Public folders and Instant Messaging. This responsibility includes working on collaboration suite of products from Microsoft, Oracle to implement upgrade of Sharepoint services, upgrade of Email infrastructure, implement Records Management. Work with various technical and business groups to understand requirements and design solutions appropriately. Job duties include requirement assessment, determination of level of effort, solution design, working with development and testing teams to implement the solution and architectural reviews.

 

The individual will be responsible for:

 

1. Reference Architecture: Responsible for evolving and stewarding Collaboration architecture related reference architecture including Technology position statement and roadmap for Email, Instant Messaging, Document store and records management. This role is also responsible for communicating and educating other architects and application development teams on how to apply and use the reference architectures.

 

2. Delivery Projects: This role will also be responsible for Planning, Analysis, Design and Implementation of unstructured data architecture solutions supporting specific business initiatives when assigned to these initiatives. When dedicated to a specific business initiative this role will be responsible for reviewing project data architecture and other architecture deliverables as part of the architecture governance. Responsible for presenting project(s) at various governance board meetings, including but not limited to Domain Architect Review (DAR), Architecture Assurance Board (AAB), Discovery, and Pursuits.

 

3. Maintain proficiency in collaboration technologies including but not limited to Exchange, MS Outlook, Oracle Collaboration Suite, Instant Messaging, Windows Sharepoint Services, PostX and Entrust secure email solution. Ensure architecture standards and guidelines related to all other Reference Architectures related to Development, Applications, Integration, Execution, Operations, Security and Networks.

 

4. Conduct research and development and execute Proofs of Concept and prototypes to develop strategic directions. Publish white papers and case studies on findings.

 

5. Leverage development experience and competencies - Seek opportunities to enhance your skills and the skills of others. Seek extensive exposure to consistent mentoring and teaching. Develop and maintain professional business relationships.

 

 

The skills required are:

 

1. Advanced - Excellent working knowledge of POP3, IMAP4, and Email-related protocols in Exchange environment 

2. Advanced - Excellent working knowledge of Outlook exchange with experience defining interface with Share point services, Public folders and implementing Records Management

3. Intermediate - Experience with architecting and implementing secure email solutions

4. Intermediate - Experience with Instant Messaging products

5. Intermediate - Experience defining wireless email support through blackberry or other mobile devices

 

Experience Required:

5+ years in architecting and designing Email, Instant Messaging, Windows Sharepoint Services and Document Management repositories. Experience in MS Outlook, POP3, IMAP4 and email related protocols. Experience with Oracle database and SAN/NAS storage would be a huge plus. Experience implementing records management is preferred.
