Software Development Business Analyst - Financial Systems

We are currently seeking a local Software Development Business Analyst - Financial Systems for our headquarters in Los Angeles (near LAX).

SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITY:



- Existing knowledge of financial and General Ledger systems is required.

- Create and document application related use cases and process flows, and detailed functional specifications (reports, application, interface and conversion).

- Help architect new enhancements and features within the financial products. Gather business requirements and generate detailed functional specifications, depicting how the financial products will solve these business requirements.

- Problems with the application that are escalated to development are to be tracked, investigated and forwarded to programming resources as necessary.

- The production of release notes detailing software enhancements and bug fixes are required for each release of the application. Technical review is required for all new documentation produced by the Documentation department.

- Test newly developed applications and assist in the implementation of software to early release sites. This may further be extended to providing initial support of software during the early release phase. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
 


- Generate functional specifications.

- Work closely with the development teams to insure that products are produced according to spec.

- Provide assistance to all organizations requesting assistance with the financial products.

- Interact with other Development Teams within Thomson Elite to ensure that changes to the financial products which affect other applications are properly documented and presented to these development teams.

- Provide tracking, investigation and resolution of issues escalated from the support department.

- Provide technical review of in-house generated user documentation.

- Create release notes.

- Test newly developed applications and provide support for new installations of the software. This includes tracking all software issue reported from the field prior to its general release.

- Present the software application in a training environment as well as in user group situations.

 

 

Qualifications:

- 5 years experience as a business analyst, writing detailed requirement and functional specifications for complex business applications.

- Accounting degree or CPA or experience as a Controller required.

- Financial application experience with a General Ledger emphasis.

- Proactively able to gather, maintain and manage requirements effectively while working with clients and other team members.

- User Interface design experience a plus.

- Strong written and verbal skills are necessary in order to produce business requirements, functional specifications, release notes, review technical documentation and articulate responses to software related issues.

- Ability to work with programming resources and other development teams within Thomson Elite. A technical background is a plus.

- Ability to develop and give presentations of software applications.
