Responsibilities:
Support IT infrastructure and online games by installing, configuring, and maintaining Unix/Linux servers, services and applications software under the direction of senior staff where needed.
Install, configure, and maintain highly reliable 24x7 production servers for internal and Internet services, including (but not limited to) WWW, FTP, DNS, email, NIS, authentication, file sharing.
Support non-Unix server infrastructure efforts, including Windows Active Directory integration, and NAS and SAN servers.
Support and enhance automated system administration functions such as provisioning, monitoring and configuration management for thousands of hosts.
Write intermediate-level scripts to automate provisioning, software installations, and monitor systems health, performance, and security.
Install and configure Windows servers under direction of senior staff.
Travel occasionally as needed to support remote offices and server collocation facilities.



Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or equivalent related experience required.
Three years of UNIX/Linux system administration experience.
SAGE Level III Intermediate/Advanced System Administrator.
Strong inter-personal and communications skills; capable of writing purchase orders, training users in complex topics, and making presentations to an internal audience.
Strong experience with teamwork in internet-related server operation groups; expert technical-level verbal and written communication skills in English.
Independent problem solving & self-direction.
Comfortable with most aspects of system administration; for example configuration of mail systems, systems installation and configuration, printer systems, fundamentals of security & installing third-party software.
Solid understanding of UNIX/Linux; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do & file system concepts (inodes, clustering, partitions).
Fundamental understanding of networking/distributed computing environment; can configure NFS and NIS, Windows Active Directory, can check DNS information; & basic routing concepts.
Ability to program in an administrative language (Tk, Perl, Python, a shell).
Substantial experience as a Unix administrator for 24x7 server-based real-time systems.
A basic understanding of PlayStation® games.



Desirable Qualifications:
Experience at an ISP, University (as IT staff), or large corporation.
Experience with Network Appliance filers, Storage Area Networks, Apache web servers.
Project management experience.
