Spherion has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Sr. Application Engineer in Annapolis Maryland.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for the uptime, performance and overall health of all mission critical, web based, highly available applications, systems and infrastructure. The System Engineer is also responsible for planning and implementing upgrades, ensuring system integrity and establishing security protocols.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
? Responsible for the maintenance and administration of 200 plus HP servers in production and QA environments
? Responsible for supporting web based applications technologies and architecture
? Provides 24x7 second/third level technical support for network-based hardware and software related issues.
? Monitoring systems, responding to alerts and proactively respond to issues to meet SLA requirements.
? Managing and adhering to systems life cycle processes and best practices.
? Deploying proprietary applications and systems patches and upgrades.
? Ensure that pertinent procedures and documentation are accurate and current.
? Identify process/procedure/control improvements and implement when/where appropriate.
? Ensure that discrepancies, failures, concerns are investigated/resolved in a timely manner.
? Train and mentor junior technical staff.
? Participation in release and version management.
