Sr. Consultant - Federal

Description:
Gartner, the world's leading IT research and advisory firm is looking for full-time candidates to join its Federal Consulting Practice in Arlington, Virginia. As an IT Management Consultant, you will provide management consulting services to the federal government as well as the world's top IT companies. You will serve clients by applying leading industry best practices and leveraging the extensive knowledge of the entire Gartner Consulting organization as well as Gartner's dominant market researchers and analysts. This is an ideal opportunity for former management consultants, as well as former IT specialists and IT business analysts.

As a Consultant, you will have the opportunity to shape the IT strategy, architecture, sourcing, and risk strategies for the United States federal government.

Responsibilities include:

Meet with client and develop insightful questions, gain understanding of the client's environment, determine underlying issues, identify solutions, and assure that recommendations can be implemented
Present findings to clients and respond to questions
Analyze research findings and prepare written reports and recommendations
Leverage Gartner research and analysis into actionable strategic analysis on client's behalf
Write and present proposals and contracts to prospective clients
Provide independent analysis while working within a consulting team
Participate on consulting teams from project inception to completion and lead specific tasks within a project
Develop, maintain, and extend client relationships
Execute on specific industry best practice methodologies in support of client requirements
Perform financial analysis and develop business cases

Qualifications:
2-6 years total experience sought; 2-3 years consulting experience from top consulting firm strongly preferred, MBA from top program. Industry experience, preferably high-tech solution services, HW/SW development and implementation, sourcing, or organizational development are a plus.
Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Ability to analyze complex problems
Ability to apply good judgment and make quick decisions
Works well with clients and colleagues
Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills
Candidates with a natural aptitude for applying critical thinking, analytical models, and past experience in order to meet changing demands will be favored over specialists.

Domain Expertise:

Specifically, Gartner's Federal practice is looking for candidates with experience in the following technology categories:

Enterprise Architecture
SoftwareApplication Development
General Infrastructure (networking, security, data center, email, etc)
Strategic Sourcing and/or Business Case Analysis and Development
Data Warehousing and/or Business Intelligence
ERP Implementations

Additionally, Gartner is looking for a candidate with Navy and/or Marine Corps experience in project management. This candidate should also have a solid foundation IT experience, as well.

For all positions Government functional experience is extremely helpful.
