DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Database/Data Warehouse Programmer will be responsible for programming development and support of company applications utilizing Oracle SQL and SQL-Server T-SQL, UNIX shell/PERL programming. The Senior Database/Data Warehouse Programmer will also serve as a backup for the existing DBA staff. This position is approximately 80 - 100% programming and 10 - 20% database administration.

 

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Designing automated, repeatable and stable processes to support data transformation, data load, data movement, and data synchronizations.
? Creating database code requirements for all Data Migration, Business Unit and SQL-Server projects via UNIX shell/PERL programming and the various SQL languages.
? Creating the definition of programming specifications and requirements, and creating the various processes to support these definitions.
? Creating documentation that conforms to the company's Database Administration standards in order to communicate processes, policies and procedures that involve database programming systems.
? Generating development estimates that include design, coding and unit testing breakdowns of each task for management approval prior to commencing development.
? Supporting the Data-Allegro appliance and Corporate Micro-Strategy implementation.
? Providing database application support for the DBA team.
? Performing data quality research.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
? At least 4-6 years database programming experience in an Oracle (8i, 9i, 10g) environment.
? Advanced, working knowledge of Oracle SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL programming, Dynamic SQL. SQL-Server T-SQL experience a plus.
? Experience in SQL query tuning and use of and interpretation of Explain Plans.
? Detailed knowledge of various programming constructs such as LOOPS, CURSORS, REF-CURSORS, IF-THEN-ELSE logic and other relevant programming controls.
? Understanding of data load and data transformation techniques required to move data into an Oracle RDBMS environment.
? Demonstrated proficiency in the creation of custom PERL programming modules and the RDBMS interface via DBI.
? Detailed understanding of relational database modeling concepts, including the use of Primary Keys, Unique Keys, Foreign Keys, Triggers, Stored Procedures, Normalization and entity relationship diagrams. Experience using ER-Win is desirable.
? Solid working knowledge of Unix Operating System, and UNIX Bourne and KORN shell programming. HP-UX environment experience preferred.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Ability to provide technical direction and guidance to junior database programmers. Supervisory and/or project management experience desirable.
? Expert in all MS Office products. (Strong Excel, Access, Word).
? BA/BS degree or equivalent. Computer Programming or Technical/Engineering discipline preferred.
