Sr. Developer (COBOL, JCL, CICS)

Job Description

Design, develop and maintain application systems that support the business functions utilizing their knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS.

?  Leads small/medium projects or tasks (1 to 2 person team)

?  Develop, implement and provide operational support of application programs to support one or more business segment components of the IT business systems plan.

?  Study, analyze, and define the impact of the user?s business needs on the system components and its interfaces to provide maximum benefits from each system.

?  Develops project plans and manages those plans, as appropriate.

?  Prepare requirements documents, specifications, balancing procedures and data element definitions.

?  Develop application systems that comply with the standard system development methodology and concepts for design, programming, backup, and recovery to deliver solutions that have superior performance and integrity.

?  Assumes responsibility for overseeing the integrity of complex/critical business applications on a day-to-day basis, as appropriate.

?  Analyze, develop and implement solutions to complex system problems.

?  Train, coach, mentor and assist other less experienced Developers in all phases of the standard system development methodology, life cycle, and concepts for design, programming, backup, and recovery.

?  Provide 7x24 on-call support for application systems.

?  Develop documentation regarding the end use of  the application and the technical support of the application.

?  Design and implement complex tools that allow users to effectively manage their business responsibilities.

?  Prepare status report to supervisor.  Conduct training sessions for users as required by changes in the applications system.

?  Provide quality assurance testing and interpret results of programming changes of other team members and recommend revisions

Qualifications

?  Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Business or related field, or appropriate technical training and/or equivalent job experience.

?  Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in systems development.

?  Experience in application planning and analysis. Career concentration on business application development, maintenance and support.

?  Experience with life cycle development and tools. Proficient in using structured systems development methods and techniques.
