Sr. Manager - Database Services (43378)

Description

Management functions for Database Services department including career management and day to day direction of enterprise Database Administrators, supporting both Oracle and SQL Server technology. Daily responsibilities are evenly split between supervision of administrators, project management and technical database administration including enterprise relational database production support, database layout and redundancy design, high level performance tuning, backup and recovery issues, business continuity issues, space management, trouble-shooting and availability monitoring.

Project management and/or support for all new database related design and implementation projects. Support, standardize and streamline all general computer controls and audit functions for enterprise Database activities. Manage all daily administrative functions for the department and provide 24x7 2nd and 3rd level production database related break/fix support.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Management functions for database services group including career guidance and development of Database Administrators for enterprise Oracle and SQL Server.
2. Manage and direct all engineering design and implementation projects related to database infrastructure and support/monitoring systems.
3. Manage general computer controls and auditing of database access and violations against policies, procedures, and regulations.
4. Design and mange high-end redundancy solutions ? install and manage snapshots, replication, stand-by database, log mining and log-shipping for both SQL Server and Oracle.
5. Mange Unix shell programming to support database backup and batch job scripts.
6. Provide strategy through decision making and technical direction to staff on all responsibilities listed above.
7. Manage corporate directory services including supporting infrastructure and database integrity

Minimum Job Qualifications Required to Perform the Job:

A. Education typically required: 4 year degree, Oracle and SQL Server certification
B. Nature and length of job experience: 7+ Years
C. Supervisory / Management Experience: 1+ Years
D. Knowledge and Skills: Indicate any specific knowledge and skills required for job success, (i.e., SAP, typing or keying speed, production goals): SQL Programming, Unix Scripting, database administration, database networking and security, database security controls and auditing, database performance tuning, redundancy and business continuity.
