Sr. Network Engineer with 5 - 7 years experience

This position is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to work in a non-profit financial organization for the Information Technology LAN/WAN.  You must have advanced network engineering design & implementation skills at the internetworking level along with a uniquely high level of presentation and communication skills. This position will also focus on network security so you should have a good understanding in this topic.  This is a design-oriented job and as such you must have very strong experience in the field of complex networks.

The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for the installation, setup, technical support, problem resolution, and on-going operational maintenance for the information technology networking environment. Develop, implement and maintain network administrative best practices to ensure a highly reliable and highly available infrastructure.

Work with other information technology staff and perform regular administrative tasks to ensure timely implementation of services.

Position Requirements:

 

? Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related experience.
? 5-7 years hands-on experience implementing, administering and maintaining a large enterprise network infrastructure running Cisco products.

? Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking (Layer 2 and 3 specifically).  Routing Protocols (OSPF/BGP), L3 Switching, VLANS, QOS, VPN Concentrators, Cisco ASA/PIX Firewalls, TACACS+, 802.1x, Cisco Aironet, Cisco 2960-6509.
? Senior level experience designing and maintaining an enterprise class network in a Unix, Windows and Cisco environment.
? Strong skills in network diagramming and design using Microsoft Visio.
? Proactively recommend and implement new systems and features as appropriate
? At least 5-7 years working with and maintaining redundant, highly available (N+2 and greater) and highly secure network environments.
? Requirement to respond to, troubleshoot, and fix network incidents on a 24x7 on-call basis including frequent late-night change windows.
? Experience identifying and responding to security incidents in a networking environment.
? Strong aptitude for troubleshooting hardware, network, and server issues.
? Significant hands-on experience in architectural design with Cisco products in production, development and staging environments.
? Effectively and proactively communicate with management.
? Maintain and monitor network infrastructure security best practices.

? Oversee and ensure timely completion of infrastructure related projects.

? Strength in Network Management.  SNMP, MRTG, Cricket, and related monitoring programs.

? Strength in evaluating new products and technologies that can benefit the organization.

?  This person should be a strong team player who is highly self-motivated, willing and flexible to work very long hours when necessary (including late-night maintenance windows) with a positive work attitude.

 
Additional experience highly preferred:

 

? Current Cisco Certifications (CCNP and greater)

? Programming/Scripting experience in shell, awk/sed, Expect or other scripting languages.

? Hands-on experience with BSD Unix 4.4 variants.

? Functional skills in working with Unix operating environments.

? Previous employment in a Financial Institution working in an IT organization with highly confidential information.

? Experience working in complex Data Center environments
